Heart of the City to Open Film Series Wednesday

Heart of the City Neighborhoods will kick off “Building a Movement:A Nickel City Film Series,” free screenings of five community-related documentaries, at 7 p. m. Wednesday in the Theatre of Youth, 223 Allen St.

It starts with the 2003 film “Flag Wars,” which looks at the conflicts accompanying gentrification in Columbus, Ohio. Also to be shown is Squeaky Wheel’s Channels Video, “Building on the Past for Our Future.”
The program also includes a panel discussion with Stephanie Simeon of Heart of the City Neighborhoods, Aaron Bartley of PUSH Buffalo and Harvey Garrett of the West Side Community Collaborative.
